New Zealand

Follow New Zealand’s story on the Western Front

A day that brings the history to life

We'll follow the New Zealand Division across the Western Front, exploring its successes and some of its darkest days — from the Somme in 1916 and Messines in 1917 to Passchendaele, the battles of 1918 and the remarkable liberation of Le Quesnoy just a week before the Armistice.

Along the way, we'll look beyond the battles themselves to the experiences and stories of the New Zealanders who served here.

A typical tour might include

Depending on the itinerary and your interests, we might visit Messines, the New Zealand Memorial at Gravenstafel, the Passchendaele battlefields, the Somme, Bapaume and Le Quesnoy, along with cemeteries and memorials connected with the New Zealand story.

These locations stretch across Belgium and northern France and cannot all be visited in a single day. I'll help you choose an itinerary that works best for the time you have available.
