I often recommend books, podcasts and other resources during my tours, so I decided it was about time I put some of my favourites together in one place.
This certainly isn't everything I could recommend — the page would become far too long! Instead, I've chosen a selection of books and resources that I've particularly enjoyed, found useful, or regularly recommend to clients who want to learn more.
I'll keep adding to the list as I remember old favourites and discover new ones, so do check back from time to time.
A note about buying books
Many of these books are available second-hand and are well worth seeking out. Where possible I've linked to publishers or independent booksellers rather than large online retailers. Buying pre-owned copies is also a great way to discover excellent history books at a lower cost.

The First World War was fought by men and women from across the British Empire and Commonwealth. My own reading in this area currently focuses mainly on Australian, Canadian and New Zealand experiences, reflecting much of the research I undertake for my tours. I'll continue adding recommendations as my reading expands.
