Service Description

Min. 2 persons or payment equivalent. Canadian Vimy Memorial. To start, I will talk you through the events that up lead to the start of the war and the Battle of Arras and Vimy Ridge. You will have time to explore the visitor education centre. You will then be guided by one of the Canadian students down into the Grange Tunnels which the soldiers used during the battle itself. From here, we will drive through the war-torn landscape towards the memorial where you will be able to spend some time absorbing the surroundings. ​ Lunchtime ​ Newfoundland Memorial Park. Here we discuss what became a massacre for the Newfoundland Regiment on the 1st of July 1916. Visit the on-site museum. Ulster Tower, remembered for the 36th Ulster Division and the useless gains made on the 1st of July 1916. Thiepval Memorial. Here you will have time to visit the free section of the museum and learn more about the area and what happened. I will then walk us up to the remarkable memorial to the missing where we can gaze at over 72,000 names of soldiers with no known grave. Here I will delve into some of the soldiers' lives who are remembered here. Lochnagar Crater to take in the sheer devastation of the land from a 28,000-kg underground mine. We finish by driving through the town of La Boiselle and up to the tank memorial. More if time allows. Price may change depending on pick up location.
